The good old sun-sand-sea package rings true in Tenerife. But the largest of the Canary Islands is by no means unique in this offering. The combination of all three is blended to perfection in Tenerife, but its blend is not exclusive. For the less fit among the group a 10-minute cable car ride takes visitors close to the mighty peak of Mount Teide, some 3718 metres above sea level, making it Spain’s highest mountain. Hardier, fitter group members can hike up, although it takes six to eight hours and is not for the fainthearted.

Dining is affordable, making cheap holidays to Tenerife a reality. Couples will be able to dine out every night on freshly caught fish and seafood and not worry about blowing the holiday budget. The best, least touristy restaurants can be found in the island’s capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Three of the best restaurants are La Cazuela, La Fundacion and La Taberna de Wally.
For families
